Prof. Richard Tapia (March 25, 1938 – May 22, 2026)

The recent news of Professor Richard Tapia’s passing breaks my heart. I’ve decided to reopen the Lives of Mathematicians series, and the first to return will be Tapia himself. I will keep writing this series until the end of my own physical life — as one small way of carrying a part of his spiritual life forward.
